Markus is currently the Chair of Walk DVRC Limited and is passionate about making Hong Kong a more people-friendly environment. He is a lifelong citizen of Hong Kong. Following a history degree from Cambridge University, he spent six years as a corporate lawyer with the City law firm Linklaters in London, Singapore and Hong Kong before joining the family business in 1992. He is a Managing Director of his family’s investment office. Mr. Shaw is active in the not-for-profit and philanthropic areas. He has co-founded NGOs in the fields of better urban planning (“Designing Hong Kong”) and air pollution (“Clean Air Network”). Committed to nature conservation, he was a member of WWF International’s Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2015 and is a Trustee (and former Chairman) of WWF-Hong Kong. He was also a member of the Hong Kong Government’s Advisory Council on the Environment from 2004 to 2008. Markus is a frequent speaker and columnist on conservation, the environment, urban planning and other policy issues. Married with three children, he maintains a keen interest in public policy, literature, history, music, photography and the great outdoors.

Ian is a professional urban planner with over 35 years of experience in Hong Kong. He worked for 16 years as a senior and chief town planner in the Planning Department, where he gained extensive experience of the statutory planning procedures and coordination of other government departments. He has also been an active member of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners, notably serving on the Institute’s governing Council for six years and attaining a Fellow membership. He has been an avid advocate for an improved public environment, better urban design and closer integration of the various components of the transport system. From this involvement, and also with various waterfront projects, he has developed a keen interest and understanding in the way the public sector is involved in the implementation and management of public spaces. Ian founded Masterplan Limited in 1992, a planning and development consultancy, and is currently the Managing Director. His extensive experience includes working with both the private and public sectors on comprehensive railway developments, major commercial and residential complexes, urban renewal projects, ecological conservation and heritage conservation projects – many in collaboration with community groups and NGOs.

Jennifer Walker Frisinger is a marketing, communications and product development professional with over 25 years’ experience in the financial services and civic sectors of Asia, Europe and North America. She is a corporate storyteller who has worked in public and media relations, branding, advertising, event management, crisis management and corporate social responsibility for Thomson Reuters, Mitsubishi, BNP/Paribas, HSBC, Citibank and the WYNG Foundation. She was the lead event manager for the 500-delegate Walk21 Hong Kong Conference, co-organized with Civic Exchange, as well as the project manager for the upcoming Antimicrobial Resistance Conference for Hong Kong University’s Centre for Medical Ethics and Law. Jennifer is an active member of the Women in Publishing Society in Hong Kong and a contributing editor to various publications including The Hong Kong Arts Foundation. Jennifer has a M.F.A. in comparative literature and a keen interest in the arts and sports.

Patrick Fung is the Chief Executive Officer of Clean Air Network, an NGO with a charitable status that focuses on air pollution issues in Hong Kong. During his term of service, Patrick has led various campaigns to drive cultural and policy change for cleaner air. Before joining the Clean Air Network in 2010, Patrick began his career in the advertising and media industry. He graduated from the School of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Ivan Ko is currently the Chairman of RECAS Group and Chairman of China Real Estate Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong and International Chapter. He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Grand China Fund, and also a Fellow Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He has 25 years of real estate development and real estate finance experience in Hong Kong, China, Macau, the US and the UK. Ivan was previously the Chairman & CEO of a mortgage services company he set up in JV with the International Finance Corporation (The World Bank), Deutsche Bank, Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO) and other institutional investors. During that period, he helped the newly set up China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) to standardise residential mortgage application and underwriting processes. He has made significant contributions to the policy exploration of asset securitization in China. Ivan graduated with a business degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He later studied the Real Estate Development Master Degree course at the University of Hong Kong. He also attended the Real Estate Finance Program of the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania and the School of Mortgage Banking of America.

Tiffany is the Founder & Principal of Apart Companies, an advisory, project management, and development firm focused on creative repositioning and redevelopment of commercial real estate in global urban markets. Before founding Apart, Tiffany was a Management Consultant and member of the in-house dedicated Penn Plaza team at Vornado Realty Trust, the largest office owner in New York City. Previously, she was a VP of Development & Capital Markets at Jamestown Properties, and an AVP and Chief of Staff in the Asset Management Group of the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Tiffany earned a B.A. in Urban Design and Architecture from New York University, and a M.Sc. in Real Estate Development at Columbia University. She has held various leadership positions and been on the boards of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) New York, and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. Tiffany was also invited to be on two ULI Advisory Services Panels focused on repositioning and redevelopment in London, UK for Grosvenor (2012) and Buffalo City, South Africa for the World Bank (2014).

Karen is a chartered town planner and project manager who specialises in major infrastructure delivery. She is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) and has extensive international experience in public policy, urban integration design and impact management. Before joining the Walk DVRC project she was the Technical Manager of the £14.8bn Crossrail project (Elizabeth Line) for Paddington, Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road stations in Central London where she led complex value engineering negotiations and developed Memorandum of Understandings with the Mayor’s office and key stakeholders to promote better public space design and urban integration in central London. She has a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Hong Kong and is an advisor for a number of NGOs in Hong Kong.

Benson obtained his Masters degree in town planning at the University of Hong Kong.  He is a registered professional town planner and a full member of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners with seven years of working experience. He is currently a Senior Town Planner at Masterplan Limited, a notable and long-established development consultancy, and oversees the submission of statutory planning and land-related applications to the Government for a wide range of development projects. Benson plays a key role in local community projects and collaborates with NGOs on conservation of religious enclaves, acquisition of land for water sports centres, and advocacy of pedestrianization to create a walkable and low carbon city. He has sat on several committees of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners to steer and organize community outreach projects, annual dinner programs, seminars and exhibitions on town planning.

Jeffrey is a registered professional town planner. As the Immediate Past Chairperson of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) Young Planners Group and the Advisor of Hong Kong Public Space Initiative (HKPSI), he has been organising various community engagement and educational programmes to promote the value and importance of town planning and public space to all walks of life. Together with other young passionate professionals, Jeffrey founded LEAPS, a dedicated real estate and construction professional platform with a goal to generate innovative solutions to current land and housing as well as other social issues, leveraging their professional expertise and insight. This year, he has also become one of the Co-Curators of Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture 2017 (Hong Kong) focusing on the evolving mixed use developments in Hong Kong.

He is an elected District Councillor representing the Pokfulam constituency and a member of the Harbourfront Commission, and was a member of Government’s Steering Committee on Biodiversity Actions and Strategy Plan. Paul is CEO of Designing Hong Kong, a non-profit organization devoted to promoting livable density, including improving walkability, promoting affordable access to water sports and leisure boating, and safeguarding Hong Kong’s biodiversity. Designing Hong Kong is a Member of the World Urban Campaign by UN-Habitat. Paul has a Masters in Social Science (Economics) from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and a Masters of Arts (Transport Policy and Planning) from The University of Hong Kong.
